I’d say go with inkjet vinyl sticker paper, it works great! It is easy to cut with scissors, or with your Cricut, Cameo, or Solo. You can save on ink long term if you invest in an eco-tank epson printer as well. I bought one a few years ago and love it. The Legend of Zelda game series is one of my all time favorite game franchises. For Zelda fans like me, here is free printable Legend of Zelda play money for putting in party favor bags, giving to kids to pretend with, or using to teach kids about money.

This free printable Legend of Zelda money is in JPEG format. The JPEG download prints 6 Legend of Zelda dollars (rupees) on 8.5 x 11 standard letter size paper. Sailor Midna Statue – The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

In the past I’ve only made pretty basic polymer clay figures and statues or sculpted polymer clay on existing figures to modify and enhance them. I knew I wanted to start making figures and statues of my favorite characters but I also wanted to make something unique. I’ve always been a big fan of various videogame characters as well as anime characters and decided to do a crossover. This statue takes components inspired by the anime Sailor Moon and integrates them with Midna from the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.  Midna has very dynamic components on her outfit, tattooing and general color scheme, so it was fun to translate this into a Sailor Moon type character.

One of the first things I did was figure out how to correctly wire LEDs. I then created a general plan for the stand and the location of the switch and battery.

I like to think that I’m pretty practical when it comes to reusing old items in my creations and found some reused old items to make the stand and armature for the statue.  I made the stand out of an old Starbucks hot chocolate tin lid and the armatures for the body was made from extra ground wire I had used in my outside light repairs. I intertwined the wires for the LED connections in to the armature for connecting to the LED’s at a later time. You can see the initial construction below.

I was able to take some RadioShack components such as a rocker switch, speaker wire and some LEDs and test the connection. Note that I did not solder anything yet. With everything working I was ready to sculpt my figure.

While I could have used Super Sculpey I went with cheaper, basic Sculpey as well as some off brands.  It’s important to note that while I sculpted, I removed the battery, LEDs and rocker switch and left only the wires. The wires were the only thing capable of standing up to the heat when I cooked the Sailor Midna statue.

I used primarily three colors of polymer clay; I used white for the body, black for the arms of Midna’s outfit and orange for her hair. The rest of the details colors such as tattoos and glove designs were painted with acrylic paints and Micron pens. The ties in the top of Midna’s hair were made from the same speaker wire running through here body. The Midna statue was finished with a matte clear coat.

One morning I was making my daughters some eggs and the gold from the 3 yolks reminded me of the Tri-force; crazy I know. This immediately inspired me to make a fun shirt design using various objects that you might find on a breakfast plate as characters and objects in the Legend of Zelda game. I thought it would be fun to submit this to threadless.com and see how the community there liked it and maybe get it printed. If not I will pursue other venues such as Zazzle.com to print it.

I went about brainstorming what breakfast objects could be translated into the various items and characters in the Legend of Zelda world. The first thing of course was the eggs, they were the inspiration after all! They could be transformed into the Tri-force. So I made the plate of three eggs into the Tri-force. The next thing that immediately occurred to me was that Ganon, the main villain from the Zelda game series, is often depicted as a humanoid pig and so I went about creating bacon that looked like Ganon.

The Legend of Breakfast – Zelda shirt design

When I think of restaurant breakfast plates I often think of the garnishment they use such as a little piece of kale or parsley. This worked as a logical association to the hero Link as he is green and associated with the forest. I subtly turned a piece of kale into Link.

In some of the game series Zelda is trapped in some sort of crystal and after talking with my friend about it, the idea came about to put her in an ice cube in orange juice. It also worked out well that Link would be holding a butter knife as a sword and Ganon would use the fork much like the pitchfork he holds in some of the games.

Rose Art has a Color Blanks figure that has a sort of marshmallow head and I use that version as it seemed as a good fit for the model. On this particular one I use those googly eyes that you can purchase in bags so the eyes actually move if you tilt the figure in different directions.

The shield, sword, hair, hat and pretty much all other external pieces are made from polymer clay. Everything else was a mixture of acrylic paint, micron pens and Sharpies.

In the future I would like to do some other versions of Link  like the one from the original Legend of Zelda game and maybe one from Twilight Princess as these Link characters look distinctly different through the series. There is also now a Skyward Sword figure to tackle!
